Celebrate Kansas Voices: Betty Stevens
This project was a great opportunity to spend time with my Rotary mentor and friend, Betty Stevens. I have known Betty for about a year. In that time, I have gotten snippets of her life, where she has grown up, and what got her into Rotary. These stories have always enraptured me, and I knew almost immediately what Kansas voice I wanted to capture.
Technology can either immortalize our words or distract us to the point to where those words and conversations are never had. In many regards, I hope for the first. There exists no more authentic a representation of our experiences than the recorded voice. That is why, I believe, we should make an effort to preserve the oral histories of where we come from and who we are. Don’t allow the words of some historian decades in the future say who you are and tell YOUR story. Tell it yourself.
I created this project using the Opinion app for audio recording, Pic Collage for the images, and iMovie for putting it all together.
